In the latest issue of plant biology we published a paper on the response of different temperate tree species to the extreme 2018 summer drought.

The paper highlights for the first time that the drought sensitivity of trees, indicated by the integrity of their hydraulic system, depends primarily on the ability of different species to maintain access to water in the soil. The paper was published as part of a special issue in the journal Plant Biology that contains an impressive number of papers that report on the impacts of the 2018 drought on European plants and ecosystems.
