In October 2022 35 experts from five central European countries met in Basel to discuss the impact of repeated severe summer droughts on central European trees and forests. 12 presentations showed very recent observational and experimental data that highlighted the severe impacts that the repeated drought events that we have experienced in central Europe since 2015 had on trees and forests. Presentations were followed by an afternoon of inspiring discussions. A synthesis of the workshop is currently been written up into a perspectives paper highlighting the impact of repeated drought years on temperate forest ecosystems.
